World Hepatitis Alliance

Membership

Following your feedback, the World Hepatitis Alliance have revised its membership criteria, and are now accepting applications for membership.

Summary of Membership Criteria
  1. There will be ‘voting members’ and ‘non-voting members’ instead of ‘full members’ and ‘associate members,’ but as before all must be patient groups, not individuals. Umbrella groups will be eligible
  2. Non members, including individuals, hospital units etc. will be encouraged to take part in World Hepatitis Day and will have full access to awareness-raising materials
  3. Applicants for voting membership (previously called full membership) need not provide a set of accounts, but must have evidence of independence
  4. The Alliance will divide the world into six regions, exactly matching the WHO’s regions
  5. Voting members in each region will be able to nominate a candidate and subsequently elect a board member to represent them and their region. Board members must be patients, meaning that they have or have had chronic HBV or HCV
  6. The board may appoint non-voting board members to provide expertise and ensure a reasonable balance between the number of HBV and HCV patients

If you have already submitted an application, you do NOT need to submit another. If you have not, please submit one. The larger the Alliance, the more we can achieve.

Elections will be held at the beginning of December 2010. If you are applying for voting membership and would like to vote this December, the Alliance must receive your application by 1st September.

A list of voting members eligible for the December elections will be posted on the Alliance site by 30th September. Details of how to nominate a candidate for regional board member will then be circulated to all voting members.
