World Hepatitis Alliance

Structure

Executive Board and President

The World Hepatitis Alliance is governed by an Executive Board, consisting of a President, a representative of the World Health Organization with Observer status and six board members, each representing one of the following world regions:

  • Australasia
  • Africa/Eastern Mediterranean
  • Europe
  • Latin America
  • North America
  • Western Pacific

The first official elections of the World Hepatitis Alliance will take place in 2010; and for the first time the World Hepatitis Alliance will appoint board members in Africa and South East Asia.

In line with the philosophy of the World Hepatitis Alliance, the role of the Executive Board is:

  • to support, advise and liaise with patient groups in their region
  • to represent those patient groups and their interests within the World Hepatitis Alliance
  • where requested, to help patient groups with national advocacy
  • to encourage patient groups to work together, both nationally and regionally, to give the World Hepatitis Alliance greater cohesion and strength
  • to engage with their World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Office
  • to build capacity within the region
  • to act as a spokesperson on behalf of the World Hepatitis Alliance as a whole
