Non-Governmental Organisations
The World Hepatitis Alliance is proud to partner with a large number of groups in the viral hepatitis community as well as many other non-governmental organisations. We are always looking to expand this broad range of partnerships and to work with other organisations toward shared objectives.
Opportunities for partnerships and joint working are extensive because viral hepatitis affects so many people around the world and overlaps with many other health issues. For example, more than three quarters of cases of primary liver cancer result from hepatitis B or C virus infection. HIV/AIDS is also a major area of overlap as hepatitis B and C co-infection is one of the major causes of death in HIV infected patients being treated with antiretroviral (ARV) therapy. Other prominent health issues linked with viral hepatitis include maternal and child health, harm reduction and access to vaccination.
